How are the lap belts used for solo center seat flying in the Sonex? Just use the outer belts or has anyone made attach point modifications?

I just use the outer belts. Just have to adjust them out and one shoulder harness from each side

Recently while sitting in my unfinished airplane making flying noises, I tried hooking up the seat belts in the center position (I have the center stick). Using one seat and shoulder belt from either side will work. However, the shoulder belts are just looped around the anchor which of course is bolted to the frame. There is a small amount of stitching that forms the loop and keeps the belt from pulling the whole way through.

Now, if you are only using one half of a shoulder belt assembly, that small amount of stitching is what holds you back. How strong is that stitching? If the force of the crash is enough to rip that stitching, is it an unsurvivable crash anyways?

The stitching is in the shape of a box with an X through it.
