New Onex#133 Builder

All,
I'm relatively new to this web site but have been following the Yahoo posts for about a year. I received delivery of a Onex kit in late September to include completed factory spars and angle parts and have been plugging along every since. I've completed the tail, rudder and elevator, aft fuselage, turtle deck and am working on the forward fuselage. I have about 190 hours in construction so far and I estimate I'm 5-10 hours from joining the forward and aft fuselage. Still looking at options with regard to an engine but probably will need to make a decision by late winter. I find these sites and the dialogue very helpful so thanks to all who make inputs.

Tom,
You are outpacing us. We have about 75 man-hours so far. It goes quick though doesn't it. I do not regret my choice to spend the extra money on the machined parts or spars.

Hi Tom,

Welcome to the website! We're all glad that you're here and have decided to build the Onex. It sounds like you're making incredible progress!

I'm glad to hear that there are more builders in Ohio. Van Wert isn't too far away; I live outside of Columbus, and keep my Waiex in Marysville.

Let us know if you need any help! Keep us up to date on how the build goes!

To answer Dale's question, I don't have a website. Not certain I know how to set one up. With regard to engines, still looking at the Aerovee, Revmaster or the UL260. Lots of price spread but the engine is "kind of important". I talked with the Onex/Jabiru 2200 builder at Zephrville during Sun & Fun. Apparently he already had the engine. I think he told me he moved it forward 14 inches. I think I'd really like to stay in the same weight range as the Aerovee to avoid much change to W&B. If anyone knows of someone using the UL engine(s) on a Onex or Sonex I'd be interested in any details like engine mount, cowling & baffling.
