Sonex Build Status and Completion Photos

Just one at a time....

Our tech counselor was by, and said he liked what he saw. My father-in-law also stopped by (pilot/mechanic/previous builder) and we went over the spar and ribs, then finished the driven rivets.

Yesterday, Brenda and I carefully opened the pallet, got out the upper aft wing skin, and laid it out. Then I made sure the spar was level, and checked that it was square. Everything lined up, even the root rib (sounds like that is a known challenge). All our blue lines were visible, and it appears as if things line up as they should.

Lots more to do but we're almost there!

Photos...

My technical counselor, Nick.

Just finished reassembling mine back at the airport after taking it home for a few weeks.

I completed a few mods including adding a spinner. Installed naca ducts to hopefully improve ventilation. Added rudder trim. Relocated the electric fuel pump to support both aux tank and main. Repainted the cowl and tail tips and even gave the fuselage a polish. Now just need to get around to polishing those wings

I feel like I'm starting to see some progress...I finally got the forward fuselage attached to the aft fuselage and Sonex #800 is starting to look like a plane. I'm just jealous that my son was able to sit in the plane and start making airplane noises while I'm going to have to wait until I get the seat done :D . Because I'm scratch building I go through long periods where nothing looks much different for months on end, but seeing the fuselage come together has really got me eager to push ahead.

I owe thanks to several builders that are a few steps ahead of me...I can't tell you how much I've benefited from watching your progress and benefiting from your timely experiences and feedback that you generate.

My workspace is a bit cramped as I also keep my boat in the garage...but there's actually still plenty of room to build
