Or a better argument to have ads-b out and ads-b in. Especially helpful when some faster guy is coming from behind. I've made more than one turn off course when faced with this situation. It's downright scary to see how little some pilots look out the window when they're talking with ATC and are expecting traffic advisories which they may not get.

We have future plans for an Echo UAT. Maybe at next annual.

Want to get the EchoUAT too. Good luck finding one. They are not available anywhere from my search. Even the manufacturer doesn't have any available. Talked to Uavionix sales rep at the recent AOPA gathering in FDK. He said they don't know when they might be available.

Since you have a transponder, might consider the Garmin GLD-82. Goes in the line from transponder to antenna. One advantage, can change from anonymous to normal ID with flip of a switch. As close to Chicago as you are, ADS-B out should be mandatory, at least others will know where you are.

With just your mode C it is possible you will show up on ADSR. I was flying my Xenos with mode C and a friend was flying 10 miles ahead of me with mode S. I had a tablet running Avare and I could see him as a target. He could see me as well even though I had no ADSB out. I was surprised it was possible and later found out, on this forum I believe< that it's called ADSR. ATC broadcasts their radar through some system for ADSB in. You have to be in range of repeater antenas

Bill, that is cool. We always turn on the transponder from takeoff to landing. One interesting thing about radar services here is we have a local TRSA, Rockford Approach. If I use them for flight following, I don't show up on FlightAware. If I talk to Chicago or others, then I do. Not sure if that is related to the ATC network or not.

So a couple of weeks ago BobDz told us about the Wisconsin DOT aviation passport program:

This is pretty cool. It's a free program. They send you a little "passport" book, and you fly around to different airports in the state and collect stamps in your book. Besides the prizes (shirts, flight bag, leather jacket) it helps answer the question "where should we fly to today?"

Today we left C77 and flew up to Sauk Prarie 91C for our first stamp. Enroute:

3 hours total flying, 4 stamps. It was a spectacular day to fly.
