When drilling pilot holes in the stainless steel, use maximum pressure and low drill speed. Here's a video I made of a useful method for drilling all of the holes on this page.

The flanges in the upper firewall former will need to be almost completely modified to provide good contact for rivets while maintaining the flat/straight surface of the former.
